EFLAND - Sammie Stevens Church, 74, of 6918 High Rock Road, was called home to her heavenly father Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Alamance/Caswell Hospice Home. She was a homemaker and day care provider for many children. She was loved by all.
She is survived by her husband, of 56 years, Alton Willard Church. Three sons, Randy A. Church of Efland, Rory A. Church (Millie) of Graham, Roland S. Church (Jeri) of Mebane; two daughters, Sheronda "Renee" Bernal (Tony) of Cedar Grove, Robyn C. Riffe (Jeremy) of Efland; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; sister Dicia Houck; two brothers, John "Wade" Stevens, Rhonda Stevens all of West Jefferson NC.
She is preceded in death by parents Raleigh and Octavia Greer Stevens, son Ricky A. Church, granddaughter Alaina Bernal, 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Family will receive friends and loved ones at 11 am at Swepsonville Baptist Church in Swepsonville NC on Tuesday September 2, 2014. Funeral to follow with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane. In lieu of flowers make donations to American Association of Diabetes and/or a charity of your choice.

Alton and family. I've known your family for a long time through your working with Daddy and Sammie's tending to my oldest daughter who is now 45 years old. I remember how kind and sweet and loving she was. Keep all those good memories that were made during your years together.

Alton and family, we are so said to hear of Sammies passing. We really know what a special person she was. When she looked after my children, Rhonda and Rocky, she always treated them like family. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
