SWEPSONVILLE - Mrs. Sandra Newton Herring, 65, of 3032 Swepsonville-Saxapahaw Road, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at 5:50 p.m.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Raymond L. Herring, who survives and the daughter of Robert L. "Red" Newton and Alma Faucette Newton, both deceased. She retired as Chief Magistrate for Alamance County with 30 years of service. She was a member of the N. C. Magistrate Association.
In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include her son, Josh Herring and wife Holly of Swepsonville; grandson, Joshua Herring; sister, Phyllis Gumm and husband William of Graham; and brother, Darrell Newton and wife Joyce of Swepsonville.
A graveside service will be conducted at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Snow Camp, N.C. on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Jerry Martin.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Sue Hill and Elaine Williamson for their special care and friendship and also to Dr. Pandit and Amanda at the Mebane Cancer Center for their loving care given to Sandra during her illness.
