GRAHAM - Mrs. Shirley Pridgen Lindley, 87, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Lindley was born March 25, 1925, to Wilton H. Pridgen and Ione B. Pridgen of Elm City, N.C. She was married for 55 years to Dr. Joseph J. Lindley, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her sister, Lewis Pridgen Hudson of Richmond, Va.
Mrs. Lindley graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1945 with a BA in biology. She worked as a chemist for Vick Chemical Co. and Reynolds Metals Co., Greensboro, N.C. and Kingan and Co., Richmond, Va.. She was a founding partner in Lindley Mills, Inc. She loved sewing and the miracle of birds and her family. She was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church, Burlington, NC, and a member of the Alamance-Caswell Medical Auxiliary.
Surviving are three children, Joseph J. Lindley Jr. and wife, Teresa Lamb Lindley, of Graham, Ione Lindley Taylor and husband, Carl A. Taylor Jr. of Reston, Va. and Henry J. Lindley of Graham, NC; and three grandchildren, Carl A. Taylor, III, Lindley A. Taylor and Caroline L. Lindley.
She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by her family.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 2:00 PM, at South Fork Friends Meeting Cemetery, Snow Camp, NC, with the Rev. Marshall Old officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Front Street United Methodist Church, PO Box 2597, Burlington, NC 27216.
