The Rev. Dowd Edwin Johnson, 87, of Burlington, died at the Hospice Home on Oct. 7 of pancreatic cancer. Mr. Johnson was a native of Roxboro, graduated from Person County High School and attended Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C., and Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind. He was employed by Collins & Aikman, in Roxboro, as a young man and later by Burlington Industries. He was a Wesleyan Methodist Pastor for many years. Among the churches he pastored were First Wesleyan Church of Graham and Bible Wesleyan Church of Graham.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ruth Casey Johnson, of the home; daughters, Sandra Casey and Janice Marie Johnson, of Burlington; son, Dennis Lee Johnson (Karen), of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Ben (Sarah) Johnson, Brent Johnson and Mariam (Joshua) Troseth; a great-granddaughter, Rosemary Ellen Troset; and brother, Raymond (Sue) Johnson, of Roxboro. His parents were James McGuffy Johnson, a carpenter, and Sue Whitt Johnson, a homemaker, of Roxboro.
Funeral services will be held at McClure Funeral Service Chapel in Graham on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at 2 p.m.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
