GRAHAM - Mr. Thomas Merrill Hobbs, 91, formerly of Graham, died at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at 7:30 a.m.

A native of Orange County, he was the husband of the late Billie Sue Bumgarner Hobbs and the son of John Thomas Hobbs, Sr. and Maude Jobe Hobbs, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during World War II, Korean Conflict and Viet Nam War and retired with 30 years of service. He attended Community Baptist Church in Graham.
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy H. Wheeler of Mebane and Elizabeth H. Copeland of Swepsonville; one brother, J. T. Hobbs, Jr. and wife Peggy of Graham; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Elmer Hobbs.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Floyd Repass with the family receiving friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Other times, the family will be at the residence of his brother, J. T. Hobbs, 243 Shea Court, Graham, N.C.
