BURLINGTON - Mrs. Virginia Evelyn Thompson, 87, of 2693 Firethorn Trail, passed away Oct. 18, 2012, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Charlie Fuller and the late Mrs. Jessie Crawford Fuller. Her husband was the late Mr. Sam Thompson Sr.
Survivors include three sons, Russell Thompson (Emma), of Pleasant Grove, Sammie Lee Thompson (Sallie Mae), of Elon, and Harold Thompson, of Burlington; three daughters, Erma Jean Thompson, of Burlington, Gloria Jean Thompson, of Elon, and Susan Ramsey (Donnell) of Siler City; three sisters, Elzola Terrell, Jerline Fuller and Chinetia Thompson, all of Burlington; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Reynold Fuller; and one sister, Bernice Brown.
Thompson was a member of Mack's Chapel United Holiness Church. She retired from cleaning yarn at Macfield in Burlington. She loved going to church, working with her flowers, spending time with her family and cooking.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Mack's Chapel United Holiness Church in Altamahaw with the Rev. Ghoston delivering the eulogy.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Mack's Chapel United Holiness Church. Public viewing will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, in the Roy Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home in Burlington and at other times the family will receive friends at the residence. Burial will be at Clover Garden AME Church cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Blackwell Funeral Home, 1292 Rauhut St., Burlington.
