Bill retired from GE in Mebane after 20 years and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. He was a member of Beacon Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and assistant treasurer for more than 25 years. Bill was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and a proud member of the NRA. He was a loving and devoted Christian husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; daughters, Sherry Morris and her husband, Lanny, of Snow Camp, and Ronna McKinney and her husband, Sam, of Graham; sons, Robert Dean Boswell and his wife, Rosie, of Lynchburg, Va., and Tim Boswell and his wife, Laura, of Whitsett; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sarah Simmons of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Levi and Annie Dula Beverly Boswell; sisters, Betty Jeffries and Edna Garrison; and brothers, Marvin and Sonny Boswell.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Historic Providence Christian Church Cemetery in Graham by Pastor Michael R. Karns. There will be no visitation at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, but at other times the family will be at the home.
