BURLINGTON - Mr. William F. "Fred" Montgomery Jr., 89, of 313 Trail 3, Burlington, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at 1:55 p.m.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Cawana Turner Montgomery, who survives, and the son of William Frederick Montgomery and Carrie Smith Montgomery, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Fred was a retired auto mechanic and later retired from the Ramada as a maintenance representative. He was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church and the Joe Holmes Bible Class.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a son, William F. "Rick" Montgomery III and wife Jennifer of Houston, Texas; stepson, Ray McAdams of Burlington; two grandchildren, Melissa Montgomery and Jonathan Montgomery, both of Houston, Texas; a stepgrandson, Donald Kovatch of Bethlehem, Pa.; and two great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Ellen McCubbin, with the family receiving friends from 11:30 to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. At other times the family will be at the residence.
