BURLINGTON - Mr. Williamson "Bill" Poteat, 88, of 1624 Preston Street passed away on December 6, 2012 at Peak Resources of Alamance.

A native of Caswell County, he was the son of Alex Poteat and Fannie Gwynn Poteat, both deceased.
Mr. Poteat was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Stewart.
Survivors include his wife, Rothann Hester Poteat; three sons, Lorenzo Poteat of Burlington, Orlando Poteat (Felicia), Willie Moore (Donna), both of Greensboro; four daughters, Linda Enoch (Fitzgerald), Renea Poteat, both of Burlington, Valeria Caldwell of Monroe and Cassandra Poteat of Graham; two sisters, Ruth Simpson and Gladys Turner, both of Reidsville; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, December 11th at 1:00 p.m. at Ebenezer UCC with Dr. Larry E. Covington officiating. Burial to follow in North Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. A public viewing will be held on Monday from 1 to 8:00 p.m. at Alamance Funeral Service.
