BURLINGTON - Gregory A. Cummings Sr., 63 , of 1438 Lanier Court, died Feb. 26, 2014, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
He was the son of Mr. Preston Cummings and Ms. Enid Styles, both deceased, and a special friend of Ms. Phyliss Booker of Graham.
He enjoyed watching "Western" movies and NASCAR racing. He also enjoyed taking long drives and was very active in the outdoors. He was a sports fanatic and a true Cowboys and Carolina fan. He loved meeting new people and loved his family.
Survivors include a son, Gregory Cummings Jr. of the home; daughters, Breta Menese Cummings of Atlanta, Ga. and Wendy Nicole Cummings of Raleigh, N.C.; brothers, Steve Styles, Donald Styles, Stanley Styles and Anthony Cummings, all of Ohio; a special uncle, Edward Cummings of Gibsonville with whom he grew up like a brother; a granddaughter, Ms. Jessica Cummings; formerly married to and longtime friend, Julian Herbin and from their union came their daughter, Wendy; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a special aunt, Ms. Joan Cummings who grew up with him like his sister.
Public view will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 1 from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Roy Blackwell Chapel at Blackwell Funeral Home at 1292 Rauhut St.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Roy Blackwell Chapel at Blackwell Funeral Home, 1292 Rauhut St., Burlington, N.C. 27217 with the Rev. Timothy Richmond delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Clover Garden Cemetery.
Visitation will be March 2 at 2 p.m. prior to the service, with the family arriving at 1:30 p.m. At other times, friends may visit with the family at the residence, 1438 Lanier Court, Burlington.
