SNOW CAMP - Mrs. Fern Workman Cooper, 89, of Snow Camp died at the Hospice Home on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at 3:25 p.m.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late James Louis "Pop" Cooper and the daughter of Otis Workman and Nan Griffin Workman, both deceased. She was a homemaker, a member of many civic and community organizations, and a founding board member of the Sword of Peace Outdoor Drama and Southern Alamance Health Center. Mama Cooper was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she was most proud of her involvement with the Bethel Golden Agers Club. As she quoted in the Alamance News in 1978, "It was the most rewarding thing I have done and ranks #1 in things I do."
Survivors include three daughters, Jimmie Pfohl and husband James C. and Jane Braxton and husband Donnie, all of Snow Camp and Julie Foster and husband Stephen of Burlington; three sons, Hal Cooper and wife Linda and Gray Cooper and wife Kelly, all of Snow Camp and Donald Cooper and wife Sylvia of Mebane; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Georgia Dark and Nancy Holt; brother, Earl Workman; and granddaughter, Tracy Cooper.
The funeral service will be conducted at Bethel United Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Joseph Park and the Rev. Carolyn Burris. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence of Jane and Donnie Braxton, 775 East Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road, Snow Camp, N.C.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Oaks of Alamance, Alamance House Memory Care and the Hospice Home for their love and care of Mrs. Cooper.
