BURLINGTON - William Keith Crabtree Sr., 86, of Burlington, died on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at The Oaks of Alamance after several years of declining health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Ruth Sledge Crabtree, and the son of John W. Crabtree and Patsy Marlette Crabtree, both deceased. He was the owner of Crabtree Woodwork and Plastics Company and was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church where he also served on the Board of Trustees and was Layman of the Year. Mr. Crabtree was involved in the Burlington Civitans Club for over 30 years and was past President of the club and Civitan of the Year.
Survivors include two daughters, Lynda Andrews and husband Robert of Graham and Sara Varney and husband Douglas of Durham; two sons, W. Keith Crabtree Jr. and wife Shelley of Buffalo, N.Y., and Dermont Crabtree and wife Norma of Statesville; nine grandchildren, Keith Crabtree III, David Crabtree, Tracy Crabtree, Heather Bustle, Logan Andrews, Cameron Andrews, Jessica Martz, Ashley Brintle, and Kirstie Brintle; and five great-grandchildren.
Other than his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Pattie Maree Crabtree and a brother, Alfred Gerome Crabtree.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church with Dr. James L. Bryan officiating. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 25 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Rich and Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham and at other times will be at the residence.
