BURLINGTON - Mr. Martin Luther "Shorty" McCain, 45, of 614 A Center Avenue., died March 31, 2014 at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell.

He was the husband of Mrs. Nancy King McCain and the son of the late Isaac McArthur McCain and Mrs. Cecil Swann McCain of Burlington.
He loved to fish. He was a great horseshoe player, enjoyed driving and working on cars, playing the guitar, singing and making people laugh. Most importantly, he cherished the time spent with his family and praising the Lord. He was affectionately known as "Shorty."
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by nine stepchildren; brothers, James McCain and Gabriel McCain of Burlington; sisters, Pastor Julia Graves (Janavira) of Yanceyville, N.C., Bertha Poteat of Charlotte, N.C. and Annie Graves (David) of Burlington; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Public viewing will be Thursday, April 3, 2014, from noon until 8 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel of Blackwell Funeral Home. At other times the family will greet visitors and friends at the home of his mother, 1326 Stonewall Street, Burlington.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 at New Vision of Life Christian Center Church, 514 Florence Street, Burlington, N.C. Pastor Samuel Harris will be delivering the eulogy. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Temple of Christ Holiness Church, 124 Simpson Brown Drive, Milton, N.C.
