ELON - Mr. John Walter "Chip" Jones, 62, of 2820 Gibsonville Ossipee Road, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at 10:09 p.m.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Brenda Kaye Jones, who survives, and the son of the late John Boyd Jones and Clydia Mae Jones, who survives. He was a truck driver for FedEx Freight and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife of the home and mother of Elon, survivors include four sons, John Dustin Jones (Kristin Marsh), Matthew Jones, Scott Christman (Kelly) and Jason Warren (Brooke Gregory); two daughters, Danielle Jones (Jayme Belonge) and Dana Barry (Rob); three brothers, Charles Jones (Donna), Gary Jones (Teresa) and Keith Jones (Terri); 15 grandchildren, Kaleb, Karsen, Hayden, Liam, Noah, Chelsea, Adam, Erica, Justin, Jordan, Miranda, Pat, Jack, Riley and Bridgette; and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Landon.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, April 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. E. Reid Dickens. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
