BURLINGTON - Mr. Roy Franklin "Pete" Owens, 69, died at his residence Monday, April 21, 2014, at 4:46 p.m.

A native of Warren County, Va., he was the husband of Lillie Powell Owens, who survives, and the son of the late Roy Pete Owens and the late Anna May Tharpe Sine who died April 22, 2014. He retired as an environmental director at a nursing facility and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Shelly Morefield, Sherry Vanover and Sheila Painter; son, Harry S. King; stepdaughter, Debbie Presgraves; stepsons, Kenneth Presgraves and Robert Presgraves; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; stepfather, William "Bill" Sine; stepmother, Joyce Ann Owens; three sisters, Catherine Foster and husband Roger, Kathy Keene and Karen McDaniel and husband Dennis; and five brothers, James Brinklow and wife Diana, Roy Owens and wife Lorrie, Chris Owens and wife Lisa, Pete Owens Jr. and wife Robin and Walter Owens.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amber Dawn Kidwell.
The funeral service will be conducted at Rivermont Baptist Church on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Alcorn, with the family receiving friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Va.
