BURLINGTON - Mr. Hilary J. Hutchens, 80, of 2815 Crestwood Drive, went to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, May 2, 2014, at 1 a.m. at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Fieldale, Va., he was the loving husband of the late Ruth Henthorn Hutchens and the son of Hilary C. Hutchens and Ethel C. Hutchens, both deceased.
He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He retired from J.P. Stephens. Hilary enjoyed fishing, woodworking, boating, camping, gardening, outdoor activities and playing cards with his family. He was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church where he was active in the Sunday school class.
Survivors include six children, Linda Hampton and husband Bill, Jim Morris and wife Terri, Cynthia Taylor, Keith Morris and wife Pamela, David Morris and wife Kym and Angela Moser and husband Pat; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and loving caretaker, Elsie Hutchens; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Hutchens and Terry Hutchens; three sisters, and three brothers.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Olin Tatum with the family receiving friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. At other times the family will be at the residence.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Alamance Regional Medical Center and Edgewood Place for their care and support.
