BURLINGTON - Mrs. Thomasine Teer Smith, 91, died at Atria Senior Living, Marietta, Ga. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, surrounded by her families' love and care.
The Guest Book is expired.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Willis Riley "Jeep" Smith and the daughter of Thomas Johnson Teer and Bernice Mae Glenn Teer, both deceased.
"Tommie," as she was lovingly known by friends and family, was a Burlington resident for 58 years where she was an avid bridge player and an active member of several different clubs. She also really enjoyed golf and loved her golfing trips with the girls. Tommie seemed to attract friends everywhere she went with her quick wit and sharp sense of humor. She was truly a woman of strength, courage and unmatched grace. Her family has been blessed with countless "Memaw" memories and priceless words of wisdom and their cherished family-first matriarch will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Smith Costner, of Marietta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Seth Costner of Roswell, Ga., Scott Costner and wife Tiffany of Smyrna, Ga. and Sara Swann and husband Adam of Athens, Ga.; and four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Luke Costner and Rylie and Easton Swann.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Michael Ritter with the family receiving friends following the service. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
