BURLINGTON - Mr. Warren Grady Webb, 79, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, at the Hospice Home in Burlington.
A native of Newport News, Va., Mr. Webb was the husband of Polly Leach Webb, who survives, and the son of the late Wiley Webb and the late Louise Mills Webb Lowe.
He was a graduate of Newport News High School in Virginia and attended North Carolina State University.
Mr. Webb was Senior Vice-President of First Factors Corp. in High Point. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and former player in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. He was a former member of the Burlington Kiwanis Club and was a former Burlington Recreation League baseball and basketball coach.
Mr. Webb was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church and the Joe Holmes Sunday School Class. He was actively involved with various committees of the church.
In addition to his wife, Polly, of the home, Mr. Webb is survived by a daughter, Sherry Leigh Webb of Burlington; two sons, Warren Timothy Webb and wife Tricia of Greensboro and Christopher Webb and wife Anne of Burlington; and three grandchildren, Abigail Leigh Webb, Timothy Graham Webb and Phillip Grady Webb.
Mr. Webb was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Jean Moody; and two brothers, Phillip Webb and Nelson Webb.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, in the Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen. A memorial service will follow at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, in the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington. Officiating will be the Rev. Wilbur Jackson and the Rev. Ellen McCubbin. The family will receive friends at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215, Davis Street United Methodist Church, 606 E. Davis Street, Burlington, NC 27215 or to Thomasville Medical Center, 207 Old Lexington Road, Thomasville, NC 27360.
