Mr. Robert Edward "Ed" Loy, 97, of 4365 Friendship Patterson Mill Road, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014 at his home.
A native of Alamance County, Mr. Loy was the husband of the late Julia Day Loy and the late Sarah Frances Robertson Loy. He was the son of the late Robert Earl Loy, Sr. and the late Ida Holt Loy.
Mr. Loy was a veteran of World War II, serving with the US Army in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Loy was a retired fixer and supervisor with Leath Hosiery.
Mr. Loy is survived by four brothers, Dewitt T. Loy (Doris), Warren H. Loy and Robert Earl Loy, Jr. (Pauline), Wade C. Loy (Millie) and one sister, Elizabeth L. Combs (Ted); two sisters-in-law, Montie M. Loy and Gladys G. Loy and six nieces and five nephews.
In addition to his wives and parents, Mr. Loy was preceded in death by two brothers, J. Harold Loy and Donald A. Loy and a sister-in-law, Musette W. Loy.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Friendship United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Officiating will be the Rev. Henry Swanzey and the Rev. Steven Loy. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the church, Tuesday, from 12:45 to 1:45 prior to the service. Other times they will be at the residence.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Mr. Loy's caregivers, Harley Clark and Ana Dial for all their love and care they showed Mr. Loy during his illness.
