BURLINGTON - Mr. Edward Douglas Hartsell, 80, died at UNC Hospitals on Thursday, July 24, 2014.
A native of Thomasville, he was the husband of the late Anne J. Hartsell and the son of Edward DeWitt Hartsell and Clara O'Neal Saunders Hartsell, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Doug retired from Kayser-Roth Corporation as Director of Human Resources Administration. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington.
Survivors include two sons, Neal Douglas Hartsell and wife Ana Teixeira and their son, Jonas Hartsell, all of Austin, Texas and Benjamin Edward Hartsell and wife Michelle L. Hartsell of Plano, Texas; sister, Betty Jean Sowers and husband Darwin of Raleigh, N.C.; and brother-in-law, Tim Jessup of Mebane, N.C.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Cranford.
A graveside service will be conducted in Alamance Memorial Park on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at 3 p.m. by Dr. Terry Peele.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2686, Burlington, NC 27216 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
