BURLINGTON - Mr. Ernest Jordan Sr., 74, of 1428 Duggins Drive, died Aug. 3, 2014, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

He was formerly married to the late Janie Bell Jones of Burlington and was the son of the late Mr. Leroy Jordan and the late Mrs. Mamie Kitchin Jordan.
He was a member of First Baptist Church at 508 Apple St. He was a 1955 graduate of Jordan Sellars High School. He was a truck driver for 47 years in New York City and after he retired, he was a school crossing guard for Burlington Police Department. He was a great mechanic and loved working on cars. He enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include a son, Ernest Jordan Jr. of New York; three daughters, Ernestine Renee Williams (Alford), Denese Wyatt (Glenn) and Teresa Jordan, all of New York City; a sister, Leona Lundy of Georgia; seven grandchildren; a special aunt, Annie Turner and a special cousin, Shirley Bigelow, both of Burlington; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be Wednesday, Aug. 6 from 1 to 8 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel at Blackwell Funeral Home. At other times, the family will receive visitors and friends at the home.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at First Baptist Church, 508 Apple St., Burlington. The body will lie in state from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service. The family will arrive at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery, Ross St., Burlington.
