SNOW CAMP - Mrs. Gladys Pryor Harrelson, 88, of 7370 Whitney Road, Snow Camp, died on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at her residence.
A native of Rockingham County, she was the loving wife of the late Emmitte Johnson Harrelson and the daughter of Bernie Pryor and Florence Apple Pryor, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a retiree from the North Carolina School System where she worked at B. Everett Jordan Elementary School. She was of the Primitive Baptist Faith. Mrs. Harrelson was a faithful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting and gardening, and was a beloved cook.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Maness and husband Tom of Snow Camp, and Rita Holt and husband Nick of Snow Camp; three sons, H.L. "Hunter" Harrelson and wife Patsy of Graham, Roger Harrelson and wife Estelle of Snow Camp, and Brett Harrelson and wife Donna of Snow Camp; ten grandchildren, Kay Holt, Angela Harrelson, Cheryl Taylor, Leslie Ledbetter, Kelly King, Taylor Harrelson, Eric Harrelson, Todd Harrelson, Joseph Holt, and Jacob Harrelson; and fourteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, E. Darrell Harrelson; one sister, Susie Ross; and two brothers, Billy Pryor and Joe Pryor.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham with Elder David Underwood officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Rich and Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham and at other times will be at the residence of her daughter, Rita Holt, 7830 S. NC Highway 87, Snow Camp.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pam Sheerajin for her dedicated care of Mrs. Harrelson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance/Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
