HAW RIVER - Mr. William J. "Bill" Needham, 57, of 4160 Phillips Chapel Road, died suddenly at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at 8:40 p.m.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Helen Bindewald Needham, who survives, and the son of Foster Andrew Needham and Ophelia Wilson Needham, both deceased. He was Senior Petroleum Operator for Southern States. Bill was a member, elder and active volunteer of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Mebane where he served in the Session for the church.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a brother, Daniel Needham; special family members, Shawn Needham, Jeremy Needham, Rachel Collins, Junior Gilley, Chelsea Gilliam and Carole Julian; Helen's siblings, Richard Bindewald, David Bindewald, Sherry Bindewald Hasty and Anne Bindewald-Fuller; and their beloved cat family.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Judith Gilley.
A memorial service will be conducted at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. David Crow with the family receiving friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
