GRAHAM - Mrs. Hilda Quakenbush Hodgin, 86, of 1268 Cherry Lane, Graham died at the Hospice Home on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 5:10 p.m.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of Alvis Lee Hodgin, who survives and the daughter of Leo B. Quakenbush and Betty Lloyd Quakenbush, both deceased. She retired as a garment designer and pattern maker from the textile industry. She was a member of Moore's Chapel Baptist Church. Hilda was a court monitor for MADD and Guardian Ad Litem. She also volunteered with the Alamance Crisis Line.
In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include five daughters, Melinda Gartrell and husband Rob of Ft. Collins, CO, Amy Hodgin of Graham, Tammy Kernodle and husband Darrell of Graham, Angelia London and husband Clay of Burlington and Tina Patterson and husband Glenn of Graham; son-in-law, Chuck Roberts; eight grandchildren, Nile Roberts and wife Cassie, Chad Roberts and wife Angela, Nikki Jacobs and husband Mike, Jr., Andy Murphy and wife Kelly, Kyle Murphy and wife Jessica, Amber Strunk and husband Kyle, Clint Kernodle and Erin Melton and husband Tripp; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Roberts; granddaughter, Kelly Hunter; two sisters, Nell Murray and Kay McGinnis; and one brother, Bill Quakenbush.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Norman M. Whitney, Sr. and Rick Purcell with the family receiving friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Other times they will be at the residence.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Maxim Home Healthcare and all of her caregivers, especially Naketia Harvey and Carolyn Coble for their special care and kindness during her illness.
