Hugh C. Mize Jr.

DALTON, Ga. - Mr. Hugh C. Mize Jr., 69, of Dalton and formerly of Efland, N.C., died suddenly Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at his residence.
He was the son of the late Violet Elmore Mize and Hugh Calvin Mize Sr. and was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert E. Mize and Eric L. Mize; his loving mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eva Jeffries Elmore and Henry "Slim" Elmore.
Hugh retired from the textile industry as a color chemist. He was an active member of Rock Bridge Community Church and a former member of the Burlington Assembly of God.
Hugh is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carolyn Elmore Mize of Dalton; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy Mize Peck and Eric of Adairsville, Ga., Donna Mize McCurry and Robert of Dalton; sisters and brother-in-law, Hazel Vinson of Graham, N.C., Nell Sechrest of Kernersville, N.C., Pat Lineberry of Burlington, N.C. and Betty Jane and Gilbert Pore of Mebane, N.C.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Douglas and Linda Mize of Hampton Beach, N.C., David and Dale Mize of Pittsboro, N.C.; grandchildren, Robert Gregg McCurry Jr., Meghan McCurry and Lauren Peck; many nieces , nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home in Dalton with the Rev. Jay Ashlock officiating.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Friday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11 a.m.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chestnut Ridge United Methodist Church cemetery in Efland, N.C. with the Rev. Howard Thompson officiating.
