BURLINGTON - Mr. Darrell Lee Summers died on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
He was born on July 17, 1958, to Mrs. Blanche G. Summers, who survives, and the late Mr. James Lee Summers Jr. in Alamance County.
He was educated at Eastern Guilford High School. He was a professional truck driver for more than 20 years driving for the Arkansas Trucking Co. and the Continental Trucking Co.
He is survived by two beautiful daughters, LaShanna Sellars and Kendra Summers, both of Burlington; four brothers, James Garrison (Deborah), of Durham, Garry Garrison (Carolyn), of Burlington, Herman Summers, of Washington, D.C., and Mark Summers, of Durham; four sisters, Carol Woods
(James), Bonita "Niki" Summers, Shelethia Summers, all of Burlington, and Kim Howell (Jeffery), of Charlotte; a very, very special niece, Tasha Allen (born on his birthday); special great-nieces Tiara and Jayden; special great-nephews Kyshe and Jason; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunties, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Faith Baptist Church in Gibsonville. Pastor Darryl E. McConnell will officiate.
Family visitation will be at 12 noon at the church on Monday. At other times, the family will receive guests at the home of Tasha Allen, 1402 Tarleton Ave. Public viewing will be Sunday at Hargett and Bryant Funeral Home from 1 until 8 p.m. The family would like to thank the Oncology Staff, the nurses on the first floor and the second-floor ECU staff at ARMC for taking good care of our loved one.
