LEASBURG - Jonah Benjamin Kirby, 71, of 5996 N.C. Highway 119 North, passed into eternal life on Feb. 10, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by his family. A native of Caswell County, Mr. Kirby retired after 32 years of service to the N.C. Department of Corrections. He was a devoted member of Union United Methodist Church and a friend to anyone he met.
A celebration of his life will be held Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Union United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Bob Way, Joe Jackson and Ben Gault. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his dedicated wife of 50 years, Linda Lunsford Kirby, children Tracy Kirby, Tony Kirby and wife Beth, and Tiffiny Kirby Morris and husband Jeff. He has six grandchildren, that were the joy of his life: Danielle and husband James, Claire, Ben, Carrie, Kirby and Lindy, and great-grandchildren A'Niyah, A'Lanah and A'Yanah. Jonah was a brother to Jean Sartin of Mebane, Edith and Leonard Tatum of Durham, David and Linda Kirby, Coy and Gail Kirby, Johnny and Cindy Kirby, and Keith and Ann Kirby, all of Prospect Hill.
Mr. Kirby was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Kirby, his parents J.B. and Mabel Kirby and siblings Ralph Kirby, Eva Crisp and Carolyn Caudill.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Harrelson Funeral Service is assisting the Kirby Family with arrangements.
