BURLINGTON - Mrs. Betty Jean Snead, 83, of 2636 Berkley Road, Burlington, died at Liberty Commons on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 at 2 a.m. following a lengthy illness.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Berkley Snead and the daughter of Worth E. Baker and Mary Allene McVey Baker, both deceased. She was a retired nursing assistant and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughter, Cheryl Lambert of Bermuda Run, N.C.; son, Bobby Snead of King, N.C.; sister, Doris Patterson of Graham; two grandchildren, Rodney Lambert and Nathan Snead; and two great-grandchildren, Anna Lambert and Emily Lambert.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Snead; and three brothers, Winfred Baker, Broady Baker and Lindsay Baker.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Randy Hobbs with the family receiving friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
