BURLINGTON - Joseph Eugene "Mac" McGuire, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was born July 20, 1930, to the late Bruce Franklin and Kate Burgess McGuire Sr. and was married for 51 years to Charlotte Councilman McGuire of the home.
Mac was a member of Trinity Worship Center. He was employed with Western Electric for many years before retiring and enjoyed coaching and umpiring.
Survivors include his wife, daughter, Vickie Parrish Overman, of Burlington; sons, Lawrence Parrish and wife Betty, of Graham, Jay McGuire and wife Debbie, of Concord, and Gary Blaine McGuire, of Burlington; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a sister, Leona Underwood and husband, Bill. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Trinity Worship Center by Pastor Bennie Smith and Pastor Darrell Cox with the inurnment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at the home.
