PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Mr. Gary Lynn Herman Sr., 75, formerly of Burlington, N.C., died on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012 at his home in Palm Beach Gardens, following a month of failing health. He had battled cancer since 2006.

He was born in Love Lady, N.C. to father, Virgil Vester Herman and mother, Mary Donnie Paige Herman, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Todd Herman.
Gary served in the U.S. Air Force, where he began a life long love for aviation. Soon after military discharge, he started H&H Propeller Services Inc. and Triad Aviation Inc. After 40 years, these companies are still in operation in Alamance County. Following retirement, he pursued his love of boating and fishing.
Gary is survived by his wife, Wilda Kerley Herman, of the home; son, Gary Lynn Herman Jr. and wife Lavane Pirkle Herman; and two grandchildren, Lauren Lavane Herman and Jennifer Paige Herman of Burlington, N.C.; and sister, Glenda H. McGovern of Summit, N.J.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 at the Williams Chapel in First Presbyterian Church of Burlington, N.C., of which he was a member. Burial will follow the service at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service in the Board Room of the church.
