SNOW CAMP - Mr. Felton Atwater, 59, of 3941 E. Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 at his residence.
He was the husband of Mrs. Walinda Atwater who survives, and the son of Mr. Nello Atwater and Mrs. Mozelle Parrish Atwater, both deceased. He was employed as an assembly worker at the Honda Plant. He was a member of St. Matthews AME Church in Saxapahaw. He loved fishing, plumbing, laying bricks and enjoyed helping people. He was family-oriented and spoke powerful words of wisdom to many people.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include daughters, Daniele Pettiford and Malika Pettiford, both of the home; brothers, Billy Eugene Atwater of Durham, Clayborn Atwater of Graham and Nello Brian Atwater of Durham; sisters, Priscilla Ann Evans of Graham, Cindy Carr of Henderson and Maggie Atwater of Durham; an uncle, Mack Atwater of Graham; granddaughter, Myasia Pettiford; sisters-in-law, Beverly Russian of Hillsborough and Angela Vanhook of Mebane; brother-in-law, Victor Carroway of Fayetteville and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.
Public viewing will be Friday, Dec. 28 from 1 to 8 p.m. in the Roy Blackwell Chapel.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 at St. Matthews AME Church in Saxapahaw. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service with family visitation from 12:30 to 1 p.m. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence. Burial will be at Farr Marr Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Blackwell Funeral Home, Burlington.
