ALTAMAHAW - Mrs. Rebecca Jane Winn Hayes, age 74, of 3039 Cherokee Dr., went to her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Alamance Regional Medical Center surrounding by her loving family.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Maxwell Barbour "Max" Hayes who survives and daughter of the late Jennings Bryan and Brownie Douglas Blalock Winn Dempsey. She was a retired employee of Westpoint-Stephens and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She was a loving caregiver to her family.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Maxwell Barbour "Max" Hayes; children, Johnny Hayes and wife Debbie of Surfside Beach, SC, Rhonda Hayes of Burlington and Wayne Hayes and wife Wanda of Oak Island; 7 grandchildren, Johnny Maxwell Hayes of the home, Michael Hayes of Burlington, Billy Neal of Florida, Jon Paul Hayes of Surfside Beach, SC, Jay Neal Hayes of Surfside Beach, Kenneth Wayne Neal of Oak Island and Michael G. Neal of Oak Island; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Ellen Shively (late Bill Shively), Judy Fargis and husband Norman of Graham, Sandra Collins and husband Shine of Burlington and Kathy Faucette of Snow Camp; brothers Keith Winn and wife Rose of Elon, Bobby Winn and wife Toni of Murrells Inlet and J.B. "Buddy" Winn of Pelham. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald Winn and James Harvard Winn and sister, Joan Vincent.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the New Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Randy Hobbs, Rev. Norman Fargis and Pastor Mark McKinney. Interment will follow in Berea Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Hayes will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6-8 on Monday and at the home at other times.
The Hayes family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care and kindness that was shown to their mother from the staff at ARMC and Kernodle Clinic.
