I was sorry to hear of the passing of Hunt. He was so pivotal in my life and that of my family. The first time I met him, my husband Chuck Arena asked how he would like to be addressed. He said “My friends call me Hunt.”
We had our marriage blessed in an intimate setting by Hunt after a civil service at the courthouse.
He gave us great advice on my daughter Nicole, during her teen years. Hunt told me that “No independence was ever won without a rebellion.” How right he was. Nicole has recently finished 2 years at Gordon-Conwell in Charlotte, learning how to teach the bible. She loved Hunt so. Nicole grew up with him as her rector.
I want you to know Mary, and your family that this man showed he was a true man of God. He shared so much of himself to whoever needed it. You could see the love of Christ in his eyes as he served Communion. We really missed you all when you left. There was a hole in our hearts.
Chuck has since passed away after a 5-year battle with melanoma. I am now, happily married to a Mr. Roy Patrick.
Even though I have been sick for the past 32 years, I wouldn't change a thing. God made me trust that the next step would be there; even if it was dark and I couldn't see the step. Hunt started me on my spiritual path and was a wonderful example. He had a brilliant mind and a great wit. I will be forever grateful to the God of all Wisdom for drawing us to St. Peters and in turn Hunt.
With my deepest sympathy,
Renae Savage

Words cannot express the pain in your hearts, but know that God is greater than anything that brings us pain and suffering. He promises that soon he will satisfy all proper desires, especially our desire to see our dear loved ones again. Psalm 145:16

I served as assistant to Hunt '82-'86 at St. Peter's. He was mentor, friend, guide, and prod. A wonderful man. I am so grateful for all he gave, to so many.

We celebrate the life of Hunt Williams with respect and joy. Hunt married Robert and I in 1971 at St Peter's Episcopal Church in Charlotte NC. The hours he spent with us in counseling prior to our marriage were both enlightening and soul searching. We were very young, 21 and 19, but by the time for our wedding, we were prepared to take the commitment that has lasted over 40 years. Thanks be to God for Hunt Williams

Mary, I have so many fond memories of you and Hunt. He was a great priest and pastoral bishop. I remember well going to him as a mentor while I was in Concord and he was always there for me when I needed someone. Donna and I will remember him and you in our prayers and thoughts over the weeks to come. I know he is rejoicing in the church triumphant!
Yours,
Bob and Donna

During one of his annual visits to Greensboro's Holy Spirit, Hunt arrived wearing Madras Bermuda shorts, Polo Shirt and Deck Shoes. I asked him
if he wanted to change before he preached and celebrated, he said "No thanks. The Vestments will cover just fine." To me this is an example of what a fun and happy guy Hunt was, and now is, in God's blessed Kingdom.

I have such fond memories of Hunt growing up at St. Peter's during his time serving our church! I will always consider him an inspiration to me during my spiritual upbringing. I am proud to be an Episcopalian and a member of St. Peter's Church my whole life. Rest in peace Hunt!
