Thomas Williams Merritt, 65, passed away on Feb. 10, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital.
The Guest Book is expired.
Thomas was born in Greensboro, N.C. to the late Dr. and Mrs. J. Fred Merritt. He worked as a biomedical engineer with LabCorp for 20 years and then with Select Laboratory Partners. Thomas was mechanically inclined and could repair most anything. He loved High Rock Lake and boats. He had a passion for Carolina basketball and antique cars, especially Packards.
He was a devoted father, brother, grandfather and uncle and was always there to help whenever he was needed. He made us laugh and smile with his lovable sense of humor and quick one-liners. He will be missed terribly and never forgotten.
Thomas is survived by daughters, Karen Merritt Little and husband Christopher of Winchester, Va.; twins, Ashley Clark and Andrea Marie Merritt, both of Greensboro; brother, John Merritt and wife Lisa of Greensboro; grandson, Thomas Haynes Little; nephews, Jesse F. Merritt of Greensboro and Gregory P. Merritt of Charlotte; nieces, Arden R. Merritt and Meghan Kendall Merritt of Greensboro; and his beloved golden retriever, Tess.
The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. at West Market Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Ellison officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn cemetery.
The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.
