GRAHAM - Harold Dennis Melton, 59, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013.
Born to William Harold Melton Jr. and Jessie Morgan Melton and raised in Asheville, Dennis was a 1971 graduate of T.C. Roberson High School and a 1975 graduate of Western Carolina University in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Management. He was an active member of Theta Xi Fraternity, holding offices as Vice President, Interfraternity Council Secretary and Treasurer.
His career began in 1978 in Banking and Claims Management and Financial Services. He decided to embark into the insurance industry in 1992, and has since received numerous awards throughout his career for his hard work and dedication.
Dennis was a loving fiancé, father, grandfather, brother and son, as well as a strongly dedicated member of the community and an inspiration to everyone around him. He had a passion for the UNC Tar Heels, golf, shagging and spending time with his loved ones. His family hopes to keep his strong and passionate character in their hearts forever.
Dennis is survived by his fiancé, Libbi Oakes; son, Justin William; daughter-in-law, Mamta Melton; daughter, Ashley Nicole; brother, Darrell Wayne; sister-in-law, Connie Melton; mother, Jessie Morgan; granddaughters, Mary Katelyn, 4, and Mollie Asha, 1.
A funeral will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 11, at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home, followed by the burial service held at Shepard's Memorial Park at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, in Asheville.
