GIBSONVILLE –- Dr. Kenneth E. Paul passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at his home.

He was born in Birmingham, Ala., Oct. 18, 1937 to Lee Roy and Emily Paul. He was married to Linda Paul.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, Leroy Paul of Columbus, Ga.; sons, Scott Paul of Pensacola, Fla. and Chris Paul of Hillsborough, N.C.; and their mother, Charlotte Stanforth. He leaves his stepchildren, Jeff Lowe of Arlington, Tenn. and Jenne Liley of Memphis, Tenn.; along with 15 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, who knew and loved him well.
Ken graduated from the University of Alabama in 1960 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Following graduation, he served in the Army and worked in the aerospace industry before joining IBM, where he worked for 20 years. His love for teaching at IBM led him to earn a Ph.D in Marketing at the University of Memphis at the age of 55. His encore career at Elon University began in 1993 as an Associate Professor of Marketing. He retired in 2005 and settled into model building, radio controlled sailboat sailing, family hugging, world traveling, great food eating and cooking.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 1, at Front Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marshall Old officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Heritage Room of the church. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Elon at 12:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or Front Street United Methodist Church, 136 South Fisher Street, Burlington, NC 27215.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for their loving care these past five months.
