MEBANE, N.C. - Mr. Marvin Glenn Klutz Sr., 79, of 422 Dodson Road, died Sunday, March 31, 2013 at the Hospice Home in Burlington, N.C.

Born in Catawba County, N.C., Mr. Klutz was an N.C. State Alumni and a retired school teacher. He served his country for 40 years in the U.S. Navy, was past president of the national Chief Petty Officers Association, The Fleet Reserved, Mebane VFW and the Armed Forces E-9. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mebane, N.C.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary Stephens Klutz, of the home; son, David Klutz of the home; and a sister, Voncille Hilton, of Hickory, N.C.
He was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Glenn Klutz Jr.; parents, Marvin Klutz and Faye Carter Klutz; brothers, Johnny Klutz and Charles Klutz; and sister, Doris Pennell.
The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013 in Montlawn Cemetery, Raleigh, N.C. by Dr. Terry Farmer and the Rev. Judy Butler.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or the First Baptist Church of Mebane, 301 S. Third Street, Mebane, NC 27302.
McClure Funeral Home in Mebane is assisting the family.
