MEBANE, N.C. - Mrs. Mary Alice Jones, 75, of 9200 Morrow Mill Road, Mebane, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 30, 2013.
The Guest Book is expired.
Mrs. Jones was the wife of the late Howard Curtis Jones and daughter of the late Edward Murray Neal and Daisy Neville Neal. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Murray Neal and Johnnie Neville Neal.
She was retired, after over 30 years of employment at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, N.C., from the Department of Engineering. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mary Alice was an impeccable woman who lived by the morals of a saint. She shared many years of knowledge, loved unconditionally and related to all ages of life. She was a quintessential lady with flawless character that everyone leaned on and everyone loved. She was a constant giver, never a taker, and lived life by her family's side unconditionally. Mary Alice must have known "No one ever became poor from giving" because that's how she lived her life and "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
Mrs. Jones is survived by a brother, Ben Everette Neal and wife Geneva, of Haw River; and adopted daughter, Kimberly Neal Askew and husband Ritchie, of Burlington. She had numerous loving nieces and nephews and was also known as Aunt Granny to Amanda, Aaron and Abbie Askew.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. David Crowther and the Rev. Doug Durham.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham, and at other times at the residence.
