GIBSONVILLE - Mrs. C. Esther Dickerson, 77, of Gibsonville, went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 11, 2013.
She was born in Rockingham County to the late Lee Lawson and Fannie Roberts Lewis on October 21, 1935. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Gibsonville, a lifetime member of the VFW and DAV auxiliaries and a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was an outspoken woman of great faith and strength. She was loving and giving, always putting others before herself.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Richard; daughters, Donna Howard of Greensboro, N.C.; Clyda Johnson (David) of Browns Summit, N.C.; grandsons, David Johnson (Jenn); Rick Johnson (Leia); great-grandchildren, Chase Rowland, Skylar Rowland and Adam Johnson, all of Greensboro, N.C.; brother, Paul Lewis (Pat) of Reidsville, N.C.; sister, Peggie Roberson (Kenneth) of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Lee Lewis Jr., Mary Skidmore, Martin Lewis, Betty Miller, Ruby Finlen; son-in-law, John Howard.
Visitation will be at Rich & Thompson Funeral Service, 306 Glenwood Ave., Burlington, from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013.
The funeral service will be at the First Baptist Church of Gibsonville, 221 Piedmont Street, Gibsonville, N.C. on Sunday, July 14, 2013, at 3 p.m. Interment to follow at the Gibsonville City Cemetery on Springwood Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Gibsonville, NC or the in her memory.
