GRAHAM - Mr. Layton Lee, 71, of 1333 Hanford Road, Graham, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11:32 a.m.

A native of Johnston County, he was the husband of Carolyn Penny Lee, who survives, and the son of William Littleton Lee and Myrtle Hawkins Tart Lee, both deceased.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Burlington Industries with 39 years of service and was employed with Home Depot for the past seven years. Layton was an avid hunter and gardener and an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church for 36 years.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Lee of Leland and Stephanie Stephenson and husband Mark of Graham; grandson, Ethan Lee Stephenson; four sisters, Betty Lou Norris of Garner, Shelby Jean Lee and husband Gattis of Clayton, Teresa Winstead and husband Edward of Rocky Mount and Iva Mae Daughtry and husband Terry of Knightdale; three brothers, Robert Lee and wife Judy of Richmond, Va., Linwood "Fuzzy" Lee and partner Chris Ulrich and Sherwood Lee and wife Johnnie Sue, all of Four Oaks; numerous nieces and nephews; and best friend and hunting buddy, O.T. Smith.
The funeral service will be conducted at Fellowship Baptist Church on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Mike Williams, the Rev. Ken Simpson and the Rev. Bob Stephenson. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service to lie in state.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
