BURLINGTON - Mrs. Karen Amick Oakley, 54, of Burlington, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 5:10 a.m.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Bruce Daniel Oakley, who survives, and the daughter of Aubrey Von Amick, Jr. and Rachel Tickle Rhew, both deceased. She was employed with Aramark – ACC Maintenance Department. Karen was a member of Bellemont United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
In addition to her husband of Burlington, survivors include two daughters, Tisha Oakley Byrd and husband Terry and Brittany Paige Oakley, all of Snow Camp; two grandchildren, Xander Byrd and Makinly Byrd, both of Snow Camp; and four stepsisters, Pam Ball, Sarah Wilson, Rhonda Rhew and Gina Rhew.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bryan Keith Amick.
A memorial service will be conducted at Bellemont United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Farron Duncan with the family receiving friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Other times, they will be at the residence of Bruce Daniel Oakley, 4254 South NC 49, Burlington, NC.
