BURLINGTON - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Gladys Henderson Johnson, 84, of 1054 Sharpe Road, who died Monday, July 29, 2013 at the Hospice Home of Burlington after a very short illness.

She was the daughter of the late Walter Henderson and the late Roxanna Mims Henderson of Yanceyville, N.C., and married to Herman Johnson, of the home, for 66 years.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Constance Diane Johnson of Danville, Va. and Lavonne Johnson Adams of Eastover, S.C.; son, Gregory Johnson of Maplewood, N.J.; stepdaughter, Sallie (Cephus) Lea of Reidsville, N.C.; three granddaughters, Constance (Ted) Mordecai of Mitchellville, Md., India Adams of Bowie, Md. and Marieve St. Jour–Johnson of Hollywood, Fla.; stepgranddaughter, Mia Lea of Reedville, Va.; stepgrandson, Cory Lea of Durham, N.C.; two brothers, David Henderson of Greensboro, N.C. and Sidney Henderson of Yanceyville, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Julia (Ackery) Foster and Emma Johnson of Blanch, N.C.; three brothers-in-law, Lonnie (Wynolia) Johnson, Otis (Shirley) Johnson and Houston Bigelow of Blanch, N.C. and Otha (Yvonne) Johnson of Washington, D.C.; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing will be at Sharpe Funeral Home, Inc. from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2013. The family will receive relatives and friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Apple Street.
The service will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Apple Street, Burlington, and burial will follow in North Lawn Cemetery.
