To the Henton-Larkin family. Mrs.Shirley was a bright light without a dimmer. With poise and sophistication, my daily exchange to her was, "I'm going to grow up just like you one day." Henton-Larkin family, know Mrs. Shirley's light
still shines in all who were blessed to know and love her. What a great gift to be given--one that can never be taken away!

To the Larkin and Fontaine family, I met Ms. Ms. shirley years ago when I went to Peabody with her son (Reginald). Later, I became an employee of the city of Alexandria (Utilities Dept. when it was located on Jackson Street). At that time is when I found out that Angel, Kim & Roslyn (who are freinds of mine) were her nieces (small world). But what I loved so much about Ms. Shirley is that she would always teach and remind us of how to be dignified, classy ladies. She kept herself looking beautiful everyday and at all times. Even if she didn't feel well you couldn't tell and she wanted us to look beautiful and our best too. I could still hear her saying, after the lunch hour (Tanya) refreshing up your makeup and put on some more lipstick and I would say, Ms. Shirley "I put on make up (1) time a day "in the morning before I come to work" and I sure can't put on lipstick (5) times a day like you, so what you see is what you get" LOl!!! and she would give me that look and say with a pleasant voice tone, I need for you to look beautiful 24 hours a day. I still didn't put on the lipstick (5) times a day, but I did pick up some of her great habits. How encouraging she was about the up keep of a lady. I also loved and admired her personal relationship with (Jackie Warner-Fontaine - they had a bond that no one could break). So now I say to you Ms. Shirley - take your rest from down here on earth because your journey and work has just begun you are now officially the Diva and make up artist in "HEAVEN". Love always, Tanya Gilmore Johnson
