Craig, Jr

John Gibson (Gib) Craig, Jf. died on March 15, 2013 in Houston, Texas. He lived in Lecompte, Louisiana. Gib was born to John G Craig and Frances Rawlins Craig on December 31, 1956 in Houston, Texas. Gib married Lynn Hathorn on August 1, 1981. They were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Elissa and Sarah.

He was preceded in death by his father, John G Craig; his grandparents, Coleman and Janette Craig, FM and Eugenia Rawlins, and in-laws, Thomas and Margie Hathorn.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Lynn; daughters, Elissa C Underhill and husband, Robert, of Port Arthur, Texas and Sarah Craig and fiancee, Carson Green, of Nacogdoches, Texas; mother, Frances R. Craig-Pain, of Houston, Texas; brother, Paul R Craig and wife, Roxanne ofConroe, Texas; sister, Catherine C Oestmann and husband, Michael, of Midland, Texas; sister-in-law, Wilma H Mounts and husband Will; nieces, Laura Bow and husband Travis, Elizabeth Nichols and husband, Derek, Melissa and Hallie Oestmann, Patricia Grogan, Kathryn and Susan Mounts, great nephews, Thomas and Harley Grogan, Gunnar Bow and great niece, Hadelyn Nichols.

Gib graduated from RE Lee High School, Houston, Texas. He attended Stephen F Austin State University, majoring in computer science. He retired from the City of Houston/Houston Police Department after 25 years as a computer hardware analyst and later worked for Wal-Mart Fast Team and NCR. He was well respected by his colleagues. Gib was a former member of South Main Baptist Church, Houston, Texas, a member of First Baptist Church, Pineville, Louisiana, member of Christian Riders of Pineville and a volunteer fireman with the Echo-Poland Volunteer Fire Department. His interests were cars, airplanes, flying lessons, motorcycles, NASCAR, NHRA, photography, anything mechanical, travel, astronomy, music and his deep love for his native state, Texas.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Bolton Chapel, Alexandria, Louisiana, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2013. Friends and family will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to South Main Baptist Church, 4100 Main Street, Houston, Texas; Echo-Poland Volunteer Fire Department, 9887 Highway 1 South, Alexandria, Louisiana; Christian Riders of Pineville, 5009 Oak Lane, Pineville, Louisiana; and the Shilo Kennels, 1213 Highway 457, Lecompte, Louisiana.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff of MD Anderson Acute Palliative Care Unit.
