My earliest memory is staying with Uncle Vernon and Aunt Evelyn in Amarillo with the poodles locked up in the bathroom at night. That was always an experience. Then I remember them traveling and coming into the Mamo's for Christmas driving the little VW. Uncle Vernon was always fun. We would fight over Mamo's chocolate pie. I'm pretty sure he always won and got the last piece. You could not ask for a better uncle. He was kind and always in a good mood. I remember when he came back from Vietnam, I was so proud of him and thought it was so cool that he was a career Air Force guy. When they lived at England Air Force base, us cousins were always around and he never seemed to mind. At the house out in the country, he had so much stuff, and it drove Aunt Evelyn crazy, but man, he knew where everything was and was happy to have you walk around with him and let him show you everything. I remember the last time I spent time with him we changed out the belt on the vacuum cleaner. He was frustrated because he couldn't get it on there, and I helped him and we just talked about stuff. He was a great man and will be missed always. Love you all, Kathy
