Our dearly beloved one, Annie Mae Reed, born October 8, 1929, in Amite, Louisiana to the late William and Elvira Stewart. After a lengthy illness, at the age of 83, on Tuesday, January 15,2013, she departed this life.

In obedience to the scripture, she was baptized at an early age where she united with New Hope Baptist Church in 1935. She served faithfully in the senior choir where she was secretary, member of the Matron department and also a member of the Elks Lodge. She was a graduate of Peabody High School. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Jeff Reed, Sr. and was a loving mother of thirteen children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elvira Stewart, three children, Dorothy Reed Clayton, Donald Louis Reed and Jeff Reed, two sisters, Maggie Louise Minor and Indiana Jones and two brothers, Lawrence and Alfred Stewart.

She leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters Mary Reed, Patricia Jones and Jeanette Reed, all of Alexandria, Frances James (Eugene) of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Six sons: Wilford Reed (Elizabeth), Terry Carter (Debra), Jerry Carter (Deborah), Bruce Reed (Diane), Gene Reed (Keann) all of Alexandria, and Kenneth Reed of Baton Rouge, La. Three sisters: Dorothy Scott and Lillie Williams of Alexandria, Minnie Burrell of Detroit, Michigan and one brother, Isaack Elmore (Dorothy) of Houston, Texas, one daughter-in-law, Betty Ann Reed, God Sister Addie Washington of Alexandria, two God Children Darneika Baker of Alexandria, and Tarneish Dorsey of Baton Rouge, two special granddaughters, Tracey and LaShay, 41 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Services for Annie Mae Reed will be Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 2160 Houston Street, Alexandria, with Rev. Jim Wheatley and Rev. Fredrick Burgess officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories under the direction of Gonzaque- Williams Mortuary. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
