Bobbie Kennedy Compter

Memorial services for Bobbie J. Kennedy Compter of Palestine, Texas will be at 4 pm, Sunday, November 25, 2012, at White Oaks Memorial Chapel in Oakdale with Rev. Greg Willis officiating.

Mrs. Compter died in an automobile accident in Palestine, Texas on Friday, November 16, 2012. She was born in Oakdale, to Dennis C. and Thelma Kennedy. She enjoyed her gardening, books, and cooking. Her favorite things were shopping with her sister and meeting and dancing with all her friends at the VFW Post 3907. She maintained a close relationship with her many friends from her time living in New Orleans. She never met a stranger. Her last 15 years, she fell in love with Palestine, Texas and what she called her extended family, her sister's husband Mike's family. She was loved by all whose paths she crossed. She loved to share her wisdom.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis C. Kennedy, Jr.; one sister, Carolyn R. Vickers; one brother-in-law, Elvin Winn; one nephew, Gary Winn; and three nieces, Sharon, Denise, and Rhonda Vickers.

She is survived by one son, Edward G. Compter IV of Sedona, Arizona; her mother, Thelma Y. Chamberlain of Oakdale; two sisters, Mary Ann (Bea) Winn of Oakdale, and Patricia K. and husband Mike Studdard of Palestine, Texas; three brothers, Dennis C. (Buddy) Kennedy, Thomas J. Kennedy, and Timothy P. (Tim) Kennedy all of Oakdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call today from 2 pm until 4 pm in the chapel.
