Bobby James Brunson
Services for Bobby James Brunson will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 7, 2013 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Reverend Kenneth Murrell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bentley. Military Honors will be provided by personnel from Fort Polk.
The family requests that visitation be observed Saturday, July 8, 2013 at Hixson Brothers, Pineville from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will continue on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
Mr. Brunson, 81, of Alexandria passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Grace Home. His freedom was so important to him it is fitting his tour ended on the 4th of July. It was truly his Independence Day.
He was a member of Bentley Baptist Church. An Army
Veteran serving for 30 years including serving two tours in Vietnam, retiring with the rank of CW3. He knew his bible backwards and forwards, while serving as a Sunday School teacher. He loved to build things, working on his tractor, a member of the NRA and loved his dog, Ralphie. The most important thing in life to Mr. Brunson was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Guilbeau Brunson; parents, Andrew Jackson and Marie Blackburn Brunson; brother, Melvin Brunson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 31 years, Mary Jo Brunson; daughters, Joy Brunson Reeves and husband, Clyde Wym Reeves, Nancy Leigh Brunson; step-children, Brian Keith Adams, Elizabeth Ann Phillips and husband, Kevin; brother, Clayton Brunson and wife, Hazel; grandchildren, Brandon Mahoney, Andrew Reeves, Tyler Adams, Taylor Gamble, Hunter Phillips, Brianna Adams, Austin Adams; great grandchildren, Bella Mahoney, Amie Adams.
Pallbearers will be Clyde Wym Reeves, Andrew Reeves, Allan Verzwyvelt, Kevin Phillips, Taylor Gamble and Samuel Nugent. Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Phillips and Tyler Adams.
