Coy James Foster

The spirit of Mr. Coy James Foster will be celebrated on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at McCoy Memorial Baptist Church, in Los Angeles, California, under the auspices of Simpson Family Mortuary, Inglewood, California. The military setting service will be conducted by Pastor Dr. R.A. Williams, Jr.

Mr. Foster gained eternal life on January 9, 2013, at Centinela Hospital, in Inglewood, California, at the age of 66.

A native of Bunkie, Louisiana, Coy confessed hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Amazon Baptist Church in Bunkie. He was a 1964 graduate of Carver High School of Bunkie. After high school, Coy enlisted into the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge as Sergeant E4 in 1968. Coy was employed in the paper industry for more than 45 years, working with Georgia Pacific and International Paper Company, retiring as superintendent in 2009.

An active and committed member of McCoy Memorial, Mr. Foster's spiritual ministries included the following: Deacon Ministry, Men's Ministry Leader, choir member, and Male Chorus participant.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Cummings-Foster of Inglewood, California; his children, Keisha (Wayne) Ellis of Loxley, Alabama and Angela (Gary) Lawyer of Moreno Valley, California; two step-children, Caine (Alreatha) Turner, Jr., of Inglewood, California and Bethtenia (Vince) Latkins of Los Angeles, California; one brother, Thomas (Queen) Foster, Jr., of Bunkie, Louisiana; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased into the eternal by his parents, Ella Crawford and Thomas "Bee" Foster, Sr.; two sisters, Clora Foster and Mildred Foster-Diggins; and his step-son, Reginald Anderson.

A public viewing will be observed from 1:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., on Friday, January 18, 2013, at Simpson Family Mortuary.
