Dell Barksdale Davis, 97, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012, surrounded by her family.

Dell was born in Ruston, Louisiana on September 14, 1915 to Anne Liddell Pitts Barksdale and Samuel Laurens Barksdale. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University, as a member of the Queens Court with a degree in Fine Arts, and taught English at Bolton High School until her marriage to Wesley Eugene Davis, JR. who preceded her in death. During World War II, Dell was a volunteer for the Red Cross and has been an active member of the First United Methodist Church, the Junior League, and the Kappa Delta Alumni. She was an artist and well known ceramist, and had her very own show at LSU of Alexandria displaying her pottery. She was noted for bringing baked custard to those who were sick, and she loved playing bridge with her numerous friends. Everyone enjoyed her quick wit and amazing sense of humor.

She is survived by her daughters Ann Liddell Davis Hardin and Elizabeth Barksdale Davis Cross; three grandchildren, Jon Thomas Hardin, Tracey Cross Auchenbach and Ramon Vincent Cross Jr and six great grandchildren.

Dell will be sorely missed by her many friends and caretakers at Regency House as well as her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Regency House, 5131 Masonic Drive Alexandria, La 71301.
